“My painting started in 1982 at Newport Beach, California. Returning to Wichita, Kansas, I progressed to iron sculptures. I am now focused on painting. My paintings are the essence of the unknown . . . another possibility, with colors and forms that flow and inspire. I let go of the chatter in my head that measures my art against others by trusting my Inner Voice to guide me.”
From Acrylic Art by Jo S. Zakas [out of print]
In 2010 Zakas founded Artist Central of Wichita. Jo wanted a place to hold classes and art shows, sponsor cultural speakers, and offer studio space to rent for artists. The studio took part in the Wichita Arts Crawl every month showcasing local artists.
