Incubator Program
This winter, we supported Wichita State University’s School of Performing Arts Musical Theatre’s Incubator Program. The students’ performances impressed those of us on the Board who could attend.
The professors’ intent for their Incubator Program is to give theater students experiences outside of live performances. This year students met with the playwriters of the musical Express. The class became a part of the creative process as lines were changed, songs were added, and characters developed.
Afterwards, the students gave their impressions of the experience. It was all good. One student commented that the part challenged them as they had no reference point of performances before theirs. This made them reach into their own experiences to develop the character.
